Today, we will explore physical wellbeing – the 5th in the series exploring all 8 dimensions.

We only have one body.

We need to put priority on taking care of ourselves.

As I looked at the dimensions of physical wellbeing from the post last year, I have two thoughts.

The first is that there is one that felt off “removing habits”.

We should be adding or removing habits in all 8 dimensions – keep the good ones, remove the bad.

The other change I would make is to add something about self-care.

I’ll describe that deeper in the summary of the adjusted dimensions below.

Dimensions of Physical Wellbeing

Sleep: Prioritizing our sleep is key because it drives so many other areas of wellbeing.

Exercise: Regular exercise strengthens our muscles and improves our cardiovascular health.

Balanced Diet: Nutrition that includes eating well, drinking water, and minimizing processed foods.

Checkups: Ensure we schedule and attend our annual health care appointments.

Self-Care: The new dimension of physical wellbeing is self-care. This category will be specialized to your personal life stage and situation. Considering when you need to rest (not sleep, but take a break), selecting your personal care products (what’s in your skin cream?), and making decisions about what you put in/on your body – potentially good & bad (vitamins to smoking).

Being intentional with decisions in all these categories can have a positive impact on our health.

2024 Reflection Questions

As you reflect on 2024, here are some physical wellbeing questions to consider:

  1. Three words that represent my physical wellbeing in 2024 are:
  2. What habits and routines improved my physical wellbeing in 2024?
  3. What had a negative impact on my physical wellbeing?
  4. When I consider my sleep, what went well and what would I have done differently?
  5. Did I get enough exercise? What were my favorite exercise activities?
  6. Overall, do I feel I was intentional with what I ate, drank, and consumed?
  7. Were there any annual checkups that I missed or avoided?
  8. Considering my self-care, did I make changes that had a positive (or negative) impact?
