Today, we are on day 6 of 8 digging into the dimensions of wellbeing.
Our focus is emotional wellbeing.
From joy and excitement to sadness and anger, we have likely felt all the emotions this past year.
Some might have been short lived while others may have stuck with us for some time.
As I go back to the summary of emotional wellbeing from last year, I’m realizing a trend.
The eight dimensions of wellbeing are truly intertwined.
We can consider our emotions tied to each of the other 7 areas.
One emotion might be closely tied to our occupational wellbeing, while another is tied to social.
We’ll explore this in the questions at the end of the post.
Another thing I noticed is that “motivation” feels out of place.
Like habits and routines, they can cross all areas of wellbeing.
I’ve removed it from the list this year.
Dimensions of Emotional Wellbeing
Self-awareness: Accurately identify the feelings we are having and their impact on our thoughts.
Self-regulation: The ability to regulate and control our emotions once we identify them.
Empathy: Recognizing and honoring the feelings of others.
Social skills: Our ability to navigate social situations successfully.
2024 Reflection Questions
As you reflect on 2024, here are some emotional wellbeing questions to consider:
- Three words that represent my emotional wellbeing in 2024 are:
- How did I improve my emotional wellbeing this year?
- When I think about the other 7 dimensions of wellbeing, what is one emotion that summarizes that area of my life in the last year – physical, financial, occupational, intellectual, social, spiritual, and environmental?
- Were there situations where I had difficulty regulating my emotions? What did I learn?
- What activities brought me joy?
- What areas of my life that caused me stress and worry?
