Our fourth dimension of wellbeing is social wellbeing.

The interactions we have with others.

Often, when we think of our social lives, we think about our close family and friends.

They are at our social core.

Yet, fostering those relationships further out on our social circle can be meaningful.

We can, and should have strong, positive connections in all 8 dimensions of wellbeing.

In last year’s social wellbeing post, we introduced the idea.

This year, the questions below will help us think about those outside our core.

Regarding the dimensions of social wellbeing, I feel those introduced last year work well.

A quick summary of each is below.

Dimensions of Social Wellbeing

Authenticity: Being genuine in our interactions deepens trust.

Shared Experiences: Enjoying activities together creates shared memories and connections.

Sustainability: Relationships can both fill us up & drain us. We need to find a sustainable balance.

Investment: To foster deep connections, we need to invest time and effort into relationships.

For more detail on these, check out last year’s post.

2024 Reflection Questions

As you reflect on 2024, here are some social wellbeing questions to consider:

  1. Three words that represent my social wellbeing in 2024 are:
  2. How were relationships with my immediate family – significant other, children, parents, etc.?
  3. What did I do to foster relationships with my extended family?
  4. How did I strengthen positive relationships at work?
  5. Did I address any toxic relationships in my life? Were there any I didn’t address, why?
  6. Who are my top 3 connections in all the wellbeing categories – physical, intellectual, spiritual, financial, occupational, environmental (spaces – home/outdoor/etc.), and emotional?
  7. Were any relationships strained that weigh on me and don’t have closure?
