Welcome to the Saturday recap. Enjoy!

What I’ve Posted – Blog Summary

There are several posts this week I’m excited about. If I had to pick a favorite, it would probably be the superhero self. Giving us power when confidence is low.

Are You a Book or a Tree? Gretchen Rubin has been posing this question. I thought about my answer and wanted to say “both”. Take a read and see which type you associate more with.

Professional Reading. This is a topic where we fall in a category – we read for work, or we don’t. There isn’t much of a middle ground. This post explores the stats and benefits.

Personal Branding vs. Self-Promotion. I’m often asked the difference. This post provides my perspective on how the two are unique. Both are appropriate at different times.

Our Superhero Self. We all have times when we lack confidence. This can be amplified in both positive and negative life moments. This post provides a step-by-step guide to create a superhero self to remind us of our unique difference in the times we struggle with imposter syndrome.

What Type of Networker Are You? This is a longer post than I usually write. There are networking types from books as well as my summary on how introverts/extroverts might approach connections. And, for those who know their CliftonStrengths, there is a section on how to leverage.

What I’ve Listened To – PodList

This week the first two short podcasts are a great pairing on creating space for creativity. The second two support our career development.

Why Claude Monet Built His Water Lily Pond. 3 minutes. Little Happier. This short episode packs a lot of punches. We can design environments for the purpose of inspiration and creativity.

The Work Brings Inspiration. 5 minutes. Before Breakfast. This is a perfect pairing with the Little Happier podcast. Here Laura reviews how doing the work brings inspiration to the work.

How to Plan Your Pivot. 28 minutes. Squiggly Careers. If you’ve considered a career pivot, this episode is for you. The hosts share a 5-step process to move through a career pivot.

Leadership Blind Spots that Keep Popping. 9 minutes. Modern Mentor. This episode covers some of the most frequent leadership blind spots and how to resolve them.

What I’ve Been Writing / Thinking About

This week, there were several projects that I was focused on progressing forward. The workbook I’ve been developing for those who have experienced job loss is coming together. There will be 11 chapters and 8 are now complete. I hope to make this more broadly available in early November.

I’m also working on a live workshop that will be held in the next two months. The topic will center around building your personal brand on LinkedIn. My working title is “Employee to MeEO: Establishing your Personal Brand on LinkedIn”.

Outside of work, I spent time with the family and enjoyed several crisp, fall walks. I love the smell of the fall air and watching the trees as they change and look different every day.

What Do You Think?

What resonated with you in this week’s summary?

How can you take one of the ideas and try something new in the week ahead?

Are there topics you hope are covered here soon? Let me know your thoughts!
