We have likely all heard of the Eisenhower matrix.

The four-box grid that considers urgency and importance.

The map enables you to determine which to-dos on your list should be addressed first.

The urgent and important.

It’s amazing the insight and clarity that four little boxes can provide.

My Perspective

I’ve been thinking about how the matrix idea could be used for ideas.

We mentioned in a post the other day that there are idea people and project people.

For ideas people, there is sometimes difficulty choosing which ideas to focus on.

What if we developed a matrix to map the ideas?

The axis might change depending on what the ideas have been generated for:

Organizational Improvements – Impact vs. Effort

Solopreneur – Excitement vs. Revenue

New Product – Profit Potential vs. Time to Develop

Environmental – Cost (saving and spending) vs. Complexity

Thought Leadership – Uniqueness of Idea vs. Potential Impact

These are just a few examples of how to apply the power of a matrix to our ideas.

Your Turn

Do you use a matrix format to group and organize information?

Have you used a matrix to evaluate your ideas?

If you were to create a matrix today, what would the focus be?
