This morning, I listened to an Optimal Living Daily podcast titled “The Weight of Emotional Clutter”.

The concept reminded me of a post from earlier this year titled “Clutter Blocking Your Wellbeing”.

In this post, I looked at how clutter could show up in all 8 dimensions of wellbeing – occupational, physical, emotional, environmental, intellectual, spiritual, financial, and social.

During the podcast, one of the offhand comments that caught my attention was the mention of “purposeful self-care”.  They didn’t go into what this means, just a quick mention.

We hear about self-care all the time, but this statement provided the intentionality that I often think is missing from the discussion around self-care.

My Perspective

Each of us needs different kinds of self-care.

We are all working on different dimensions of our wellbeing.

The “clutter” we are working through is different.

And the approaches to self-care that works for one of us may not work for another.

Because there is no one-size-fits-all approach to self-care, applying “purposeful self-care” is needed.

Today I plan to spend some time thinking about the clutter in my life and considering how I could intentionally alleviate the stress and clutter.

My goal is to design some purposeful self-care.

Your Turn

What dimension of wellbeing is the one you are struggling with “clutter”?

What self-care would help alleviate that stress and clutter?

How could you work at least 5 minutes of that purposeful self-care into your day today?
