Welcome to the Saturday post. Below is a quick recap of what was covered on both the personal development and sustainability blogs this week as well as some podcasts that inspired me. Enjoy!

Harnessing Hope.  The first post of the week features the work by Charles Snyder on the concept of hope.  He found that hope is not just an emotion, it’s also an applied process.

Taking Notes Isn’t Enough. We take notes all the time, but this is only the first step. After taking notes, we need to make note of tasks to be done and things to remember.

Do Less – Achieve More. This post explores how taking breaks can actually make us more productive and more creative.  Sometimes a break is just what your brain needs.

Lilies and Leeches. From people to projects, this post explores how to identify a lily vs. a leech.  Once you know the difference you can work to fill your life with more lilies.

Are We Managing Our Time? The last post of the week springboards off a stat that suggest 82% of us don’t have a time management system that is used on a regular basis.

PodList

This week, there are three podcasts that stood out to me.  Topics include simplifying communications, organization, and contributing to a cause.  I hope you find some that resonate with you.

Simply Put by Ben Guttmann. 70 minutes. The Marketing Book Podcast. This episode provides a lot of great ideas on how to simplify a marketing message.  I think the tips could be applicable in many of our communications – marketing or otherwise.

Life Laundry Day: Get your affairs in order each week to clear your mind. 9 minutes. Before Breakfast This short episode reminded me of the Sunday Basket method with Organize365.  The concept is to use one setting each week to clear all the to-do’s in your life leaving the rest of the week for other things.

Micro Activism. 34 minutes. Sustainable Minimalists. This is another discussion about a book.  In this conversation you learn that activism doesn’t have to be loud and doesn’t involve just the leader.  No matter what cause you believe in, there are many opportunities to lean in and make a difference.
