Upsy Daisy.

I used this phrase again and again when my little sister was learning to walk.

I was little too.

Not much of a vocabulary yet.

However, I knew that if she fell and I said “upsy daisy”, we would giggle.

Then, she would get up and try again.

When my kids were young, the phrase popped up again.

Then, it disappeared.

I’m not sure I ever used “upsy daisy” in the way it was intended.

The greeting when someone is waking up.

Suggesting we face the day with positivity.

My Perspective

I wonder if we might find ways to use Upsy Daisy more often in our everyday lives.

We could give the greeting in the morning.

Reminding ourselves and others to have a great day.

We could use it when there is a bump in the road of our day.

A happy reminder that this too shall pass.

The simple phrase could provide a playful break.

A giggle when tension emerges.

A reminder that setbacks are just part of the learning journey.

Your Turn

Have you ever used the phrase “upsy daisy”?

How could it add some levity to your day?

Can you think of situations where the phrase might come in handy?

Today, June 8th, is National Upsy Daisy Day.  The day was created by Stephanie West Allen in 2003 to encourage humor, laughter, and a positive attitude.
